RAGE 2 Is Promising MUCH MORE This Time Around

1079 ratings | 21799 views
Rage 2 is a game that developer id Software has said will fulfil the promise of the original. It’s set to combine the car combat of Avalanche’s Mad Max with the first person shooting frenzy of id Software’s excellent, excellent Doom (2016). That is one hell of recipe. Can they turn that recipe into a tasty post-apocalyptic hell-pie? I hope so. If Rage 2 disappoints...I will rage against the machine every day.

Sooo, its a Farcry meets the steampunk age borderlands clone? Interesting, IF executed well. Thanks, but no thanks. IF is too large a word to get right. I hope they succeed though, the market is over saturated with too many carbon copies of shit already.

Todd Howard: -See that mountain over there? You can go there. After games like no man's sky, empyrion, elite dangerous, gta 5 and the like, somehow that sentence doesn't seem so impressive as it once did...

I liked RAGE even though I was disappointed by it, if RAGE2 is the game RAGE could have been then I'll happily buy it.

I haven't played Rage but can't wait to play Rage 2. The Doom style gameplay in a massive colourful open world is like it was built with me in mind 😀
Mariano Tufro (2 months ago)
Rage had some of the best graphics of any shooter of its time. It was a fun, fast paced game that captured my attention at a time when I did not care much for pure shooters. Plus the story was intriguing, even though it was short. I never thought I would see a sequel, and I’m over the moon that it’s coming out. You should be a bit more enthusiastic about it guys, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

My biggest complaint about Rage was the ending (or lack there of)

Tim Willets is tiny compared to the lead game designer. He’s dwarfed by him!

I would just like to say that the games being leaked early by Walmart is just karma for them trying to force feed pre-orders to people for games that aren't even developed yet

i'd rather have a bulletstorm sequel

This looks like it's going to be fun and fun is good.

I really enjoyed the first game, loved the ammo variety system that really made weapon choices interesting. I think The new one looks like a bit of a let down. I'd have liked them to keep the original weapons and shooting system. If I want to play Doom, I'll play Doom.

I'm pretty sure there's a porno called 50 Shades of Brown

Played Rage 1 on Xbox 360 - it was alright for the time I guess. Borderlands basically eclipsed it in my view. I remember being suprised at how smooth the gameplay was with solid gunplay too. Completely forgot that Avalanche made Mad Max, though. The car combat in that is awesome. That mixed with Doom's shooting mechanics - now I'm interested.

You know with the new doom prey and other sequels and reboot Bethesda has been a great publisher for second chances. I'm all for giving rage 2 a go
k moods (2 months ago)
i enjoyed Rage quite a bit... I also thoroughly enjoyed Mad Max (especially the convoys) and the sound effects from his shotgun... SOO good. Although I'm not a huge fan of the whole Arkham combat system. Very much looking forward to Rage 2.
vin 950 (2 months ago)
I never expected a sequel for an expensive game that flopped so hard. But if they fix the problems of the first game, I would buy it. Hopefully they learned from their mistakes. And after DOOM 4, I think they are capable of a better job than before.
BruTaL o4 (2 months ago)
Idk what others are expecting with RAGE 2 but all I want is a fun game which from what I've seen is what I'm gonna get with this game.
Qwerty Bastard (2 months ago)
First Rage was good. Anyone who can't see the value in a dev team getting 60 frames on the garbage that was the ps3, need not play games. Also, stop parroting bullshit professional reviewer talking points like color palette. Especially when bringing up New Vegas. That looked like literal shit, and was all brown.
Baresark Artist (2 months ago)
I actually preferred Rage to Fallout 3 back in the day. It felt like it handled better and looked better and I never remember getting the message "You are over-encumbered" which always did my head in. I know I will be in the majority with this though. To me, Rage played more like Prey or Dishonored or Bioshock than it did Fallout or Oblivion and I prefer that kind of game.

Rage 2 is Mad Max with FPS

It looks like driving is third person. If it gives PC gamers the option to steer with the mouse (Borderlands, Halo) and not just god-awful key controls, I'll be giving it a go.

Why’s there so many unnecessary sequels? Rage 2, Division 2, Destiny 2, and Watch Dogs 2. JUST MAKE A NEW IP
Joel Robertson (2 months ago)
Looks cringe as fuck, i'll pass thanks
Karma Kuro (2 months ago)
I just don't know why make a sequel to a relatively forgotten failed game. No one asked for it and there is no cult following. Don't get me wrong, I hope it's a good game but it just confused me. They should at least not have called it Rage 2.

I just played rage 1 again...average. the loading screens are disgusting. Every 2 min.

The guns sound amazing.

Rage 2 is a "surprise sequel" to Rage 1? Wouldnt it be more of a surprise if it was a sequel to like Super Mario Tennis?! :P

Guys. Your camera suck ass. I sometimes watch this on a 4K TV but even on my 1080 15" monitor, still looks like shit. I love the channel but you need to upgrade.

I actually liked rage mainly because I was far too young to understand the whole history behind the games
ozzyg82 (2 months ago)
Rage 1 was great in my opinion. Definitely looking forward to the sequel.
antoin1888 (2 months ago)
If it's like DOOM, then I embrace this with open arms, especially if they make a good job of the PC version like they did with DOOM
JC jchhcj47 (2 months ago)
The problem with Bethesda/ID sequels is their goofy approach. They managed to completely suck out any atmosphere that was so gripping in the original Doom and now they are going to do the same with Rage. With the power of engines and consoles, all games are going to have very realistic environment and thus much less character and different art style- Rage 2 open world will be undifferentiated from Just Cause 4 open world.

Seems interesting.

Rage was so tedious that I didn’t even realise there was dlc installed, such was the excitement of its release
warp00009 (2 months ago)
I got Rage (cheap, on sale) after seeing the E3 trailers for Rage2, and enjoyed it a lot - except for the less than fun vehicle combat that just seemed overly awkward. Most of the time I could just outrun the enemy vehicles without engaging them at all, so didn't have to deal with the poor control mechanics - which is generally what I did. The single player combat and exploration were great! Looking forward to RAGE2!
fatknacker46 (2 months ago)
Own a PC... wait till the early reviews are in. Some people have short memories, namely these 2. Megatextures my arsehole, the first release was a clusterfuck, Carmacks own words.

EmoWookie (2 months ago)
The open world was the part that didnt work in RAGE. Why...why are we still doing open world for an IP that excels at tight corridor shooting. Also, the driving was trash tier.
snake eyes (2 months ago)
I actually enjoyed the first one so I’m looking forward to this one
James Hardaker (2 months ago)
Doom gunplay was magic-fantasy fun. Rage is obviously not a realist setting but it is post apocalyptic grounded in reality. Doom combat would not add to the feeling of survival or isolation. You're just a tank in big sandbox. Sounds awful
Mitchell Shuster (2 months ago)
I thought it was alright. Gun play was great and vehicle combat was bad. The really short campaign and lack of stuff to do was surprising and left a bad taste. Really looking forward to rage 2!
HolyMoses81 (2 months ago)
First one was ok, but nothing special, nothing very memorable. I think the sequel won't be any better.
Paul Henri (2 months ago)
Actually I didn't mind the first Rage game I actually played it through twice. I found it was the only game that I could actually control the vehicle. You had a better control of the vehicle in this game and that's what I liked it about this game. The story was interesting to it wasn't until the ending the ending I didn't care too much I left you flat when it came to the ending. Play when you were out in the Wasteland were awesome I really enjoyed that part.
II-WINTER-PROPHET-II (2 months ago)
Yer hopes can be as high as you want, but WHEN Rage 1 was ONLY 9 missions having Co-Op, and the original game only had 1 co-op "game mode" which was DRIVING ONLY you effectively SHAT on your consumers RE-playability. I myself know a few morons that are highly interested because they think of themselves as the most awesome lone-wolf-everybody-asks-ME-for-help while I stand above everyone as I'm the silent warrior cooler than everybody IDIOTs that dont look at anything they purchase and then LIE to save face. First game is shit. And the next game WILL BE also. Because MORONS buy games without looking at what's wrong, and enable dev companies making and selling extremely shitty games. Look at DUDSTENY. 3 reboots for 2 games, all sold at full price and REPURCHASED repeatedly by the worlds dumbest fucking people.
Jermie Dash (2 months ago)
Remember the leaked footage for the original doom 4, and then look what we got. I have full confidence that iD software will deliver with rage 2.
randalthor741 (2 months ago)
Wait, did you pronounce it I.D. Software? I thought it was pronounced id, as in the id, ego, and super-ego. Have I been pronouncing it wrong since the 90s?
Hoigwai (2 months ago)
I enjoyed the first Rage the end had a bit of jank to it but still overall an enjoyable game. I'm pleased they will have another and use the doom style combat system which was loads of fun carnage. Importing the Mad Max vehicle combat is also a good choice.
Darfk (2 months ago)
I'm a huge fan of Doom and Quake, but I found RAGE to be so dull, I couldn't play through the whole game.
PC Ghoul (2 months ago)
My main issue with Rage 1 was actually the lackluster narrative. I really don't like mute protagonists and the whole story was just kinda generic. The game looked good for it's time and the gunplay was great, but for me it was just a short, mostly unmemorable gaming experience. Rage 2 looks a lot more interesting, IMO. And with the realization that the next Fallout is online only, I'm actually more focused on Rage, now.

open world isnt as great as everyone tries to make it sound.. you can GO ANYWHERE!!! but there is nothing to do there when you arrive.
S-clone (2 months ago)
Mutant bash TV was my favorite part of the original game, all that carnival music while shooting the crap out of enemies so i hope that makes a reappearance. However it also had in-built DLC and areas blocked off by a paywall, It also had it's own card game kinda like "Triple Triad" from FFVIII as i recall. I hated the wingstick though... Still i'm looking forward to it even though it has a 2019 release window.
Huckleberry Hound (2 months ago)
I think its going to be revolutionary. I believe something happened in rage 1 that did not delivered. But, this one will.

I was so disappointed by the first few hours of gameplay that I just took Rage back to the store the next day. I was surprised to say the least when they announced another one, though I'm equally surprised it had as high reviews as you guys showed.

Can we stop and appreciate that... 50 Shades of Brown is a book that exists?

Looks pretty good to me. Although that Andrew W.K performance (and song too) was a cringefest.

As long as it's as good as RAGE i'll be satisfied. My only complaint about RAGE was that it was short.

Rage is one of the games i actually enjoyed a ton. It didnt take too long to accomplish something. Though the story could have been better. Rage game play mechanics combined with Fallout new Vegas, would be an awesome game.

mattig89ch (2 months ago)
I didn't really enjoy the first game. It felt very empty, and the repetition definitely got to me. I'm keeping a cautious eye on rage 2, because the first one was such a let down.
Well, since Borderlands 3 doesn't appear to be coming out within our lifestimes, this will have to do.

Rage 1 was a good in my opinion it helps it that I didn't see any marketing for it when it came out I just saw it and thought I'd give it a try
Crazy Gamer (2 months ago)
Rage was not an 8/10 game. It was more like a 4 at worst or a 6 at best. It was boring as hell, advertised open world shooting but focused more than half the game on linear driving and bad mini games. It tried to be Borderlands, but you had to beat the game to unlock co-op. That's just retarded. With that being said, Rage 2 looks like a huge improvement but I dunno if I'll buy it after how bad the first game was & still is now.
Jesus Christ Denton (2 months ago)

Roboto (2 months ago)
I think the box art for the game is just awful
TheAllMightyLystrodon (2 months ago)
Rage one was awesome IMO I played it in 2013 and the gameplay was just mindblowing so Im waiting for a sequel with a real open world since than, finally it happened!!!!!!!!!!!
boomslangCA (2 months ago)
Rage was ok. Vehicle fighting was good, the main drawback was the rail system in combat... way too restrictive. Probably will check it out.

For some reason, I always loved Red Faction 1 most of the series. Not sure why, the story, the soundtrack?

Red Faction Guerilla just got a remaster. Still some of the best destruction in video games a decade later.
