2. No Other Gods
There Are More Idols than Ever Today, the idea of idol worship feels ancient and remote to many people. Thus, the Second Commandment, "You shall have no other gods," doesn't seem applicable in modern society. But the opposite is true. We have more false gods than ever -- art, education, fame, money, to name just a few. Over the past century the worship of false gods has led to massive evil; Communism and Nazism are just two examples. On a personal level, the worship of false gods leads to unhappiness. In Christian tradition it is the First Commandment. The most common translation begins: "You shall have no other gods before me." The commandment then goes on to prohibit both making idols and worshiping idols. Most people, when they think of this commandment understandably think that it only prohibits the worship of idols and the worship of gods such as the ancient pagan gods of rain, of fertility, all the other nature gods and chief gods such as the Roman Jupiter, and the Greek Zeus. However, there is a major problem with this understanding of the commandment. Since no one today worships these gods, let alone worships idols made of stone, most people think that this commandment is irrelevant to modern life. The irony, however, is that this commandment is not only relevant to modern life, it is in many ways the mother of all the other commandments. Why is it so relevant today? Because today we have as many false gods as the ancients did. And why it is the mother of all the other commandments? Because if we identify false gods and avoid worshipping them, we will eliminate one of the greatest barriers to a good world -- false gods. So, let's begin by defining a false god. The point of biblical monotheism is that there is only one God and that only this God, the Creator of the universe who demands that we keep these Ten Commandments, is to be worshipped. Why? First, because one God means one human race. Only if we all have the same Creator, or Father, as it were, are we are all brothers and sisters. Second, having the same parent also means that no person or group is intrinsically more valuable than any other. And third, one God means one moral standard for all people. If God declares murder wrong, it is wrong for everyone, and you can't go to another god for another moral standard. When anything else is worshipped, bad things result. Not only things that can obviously lead to evil such as the worship of power, or race, or money, or flag. But also things that are almost always seen as quite beautiful -- such as art, or education or even love. Yes, any of these often wonderful things, when worshipped, can lead to terrible results. Take art. Many of the cruelest humans in history loved beautiful music and art. But, as a music lover, I learned early in life the sad fact that great music can be used to inspire people to follow evil just as much as it can be used to inspire people to do good. The great Hollywood director Stanley Kubrick vividly made this point in his classic 1971 film, A Clockwork Orange. In it, men rape and murder while classical music plays in the background. "Exquisite Torture" Sergei Polunin/Сергей Полунин, балет star of The White Crow, Take Me To Church
This video is about ballet dancer Sergei Polunin / Сергей Полунин, and the Exquisite Torture he endures, yet embraces. In no other art form is the artist so much the medium in which he works as in dance. A dancer so divine no longer belongs to himself but to the art. He is a prisoner of and to the art form which he himself helped create. In this prison, the dancer languishes, yet revels. It can not be denied or forsaken. So, gloriously the dancer throws himself into the Exquisite Torture. Sergei Polunin (born 20 November 1989) is a Ukrainian ballet dancer who was formerly a principal dancer with the British Royal Ballet and is currently a principal dancer with Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Music Theatre and the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. He skyrocketed to fame with his performance in Hozier's "Take Me To Church" video. He left the British Royal Ballet when he renounced his art and vowed never to dance again. However, unable to stay away, the performer, to the delight of the dance world, returned. Polunin is a rare talent, comparable to Baryshnikov and Nureyev. In a striking symbolic gesture, the portrait he holds at the end of this video is that of Rudolf Nureyev. He recently broke the hearts of women and girls everywhere by becoming a real life couple with his often onstage partner, ballerina Natalia Osipova. Thank you for watching. Feel free to share! He brought an unprecedented new awareness to ballet when he danced in Hozier's viral video ”Take Me To Church.” He starred in Diesel's "Make Love Not Walls" campaign, and is a much sought after model and actor. He has appeared in such films as Kenneth Branagh's adaptation of the Orient Express, Dancer (a documentary of his life), The White Crow, and Red Sparrow. The action unfolds across a few city blocks, culminating in a silhouetted dance routine against the backdrop of a spraying fire hydrant. Spettacolo barocco!
Mehr Information finden Sie unter: http://www.theatermuseum.at/ ______________ No other art form than theatre was more suitable to translate the spectacular show effects of the Baroque era. The sovereigns of the 17th and 18th century knew how to stage themselves with theatrical processions, grand opera performances and opulent horse ballets. Innovative artists created the designs, unparalleled until today. The Theatermuseum holds numerous works of those illusionist masters and presents some of them for the first time: the artworks range from quick sketches to stupendously worked out colourful presentation folios; in addition exceptional loans – among them original costumes and stage wings from the Baroque theatre of the castle of Český Krumlov. The exhibition was curated by Daniela Franke, Rudi Risatti, Andrea Sommer-Mathis and Alexandra Steiner-Strauss and designed by BLAICH + DELUGAN. The Genius of Nick Pitera's One Man Tribute The Lion King
We choose to learn from the best, the most talented performers like Nick Pitera. He demonstrates, clearly, that there is no other art form like Musical Theatre! Glorious! Inspired! The lyrics are on pages 242 (front & back) in the class outline. A link to the pdf file with these lyrics will also be on our website. Rafiki From the day we arrive on the planet and, blinking, step into the sun there’s more to see than can ever be seen, more to do than can ever be done. There is far too much to take in here more to find than can ever be found, but the sun rolling high in the sapphire sky keeps great and small on the endless round. Scar It’s great that we’ll soon be connected with a king that we all-time adored. And, of course, quid pro quo, you’re expected to take certain duties on board. The future is littered with prizes, and though I’m the main addressee, the point that I must emphasize is~ You won’t get a sniff without me. So prepare for the coup of the century. Be prepared for the murkiest scam. Meticulous planning, tenacity spanning decades of denial is simply why I’ll be king undisputed, respected, saluted, and seen for the wonder I am. Yes, my teeth and ambitions are bared. Be prepared! Yes, my teeth and ambitions are bared. Nala Shadowland, the leaves have fallen. Shadowland, this was our home. 23 Amazing Street Art Magic
From Indoor Swimming Pool to Hawaiian Waves here are 23 Amazing Street Art Magic Subscribe to Talltanic http://goo.gl/wgfvrr 10. Layered Illusion These colorful, layered illusions are popping up all over the place, but very little is known about their artist: someone who goes by the name of 1010. His signature style is to layer colors on top of one another in order to create an illusion of depth. His illusions are turning urban landscapes into incredible colorful caverns, but where they lead is just as mysterious as the artist himself. 9. Melting Paris From a distance, it looks like the plaster--even the windows and metalwork--is melting in the sun, right into the street below. The new facade brought surrealism to life and is the work of Pierre Delavie. Amazingly, this is all the work of illusion photography. An image of the building was distorted using Photoshop and then set over the building’s actual facade. This illusion stayed in place for an entire year in 2007. 8. Indoor Swimming Pool This installation was put in place by famous artist Leandro Erlich. There’s no need to worry, the people in the swimming pool aren’t in danger of drowning--in fact, they’re in an empty room, viewing the people above them. The illusion is created by suspending water between two transparent sheets of glass, only about 10cm thick. This way, it feels like you might dive right into the pool and swim to the people below, when in reality, you could walk across the pool safely. 7. Nelson Mandela Viewed from its side, this sculpture appears to be nothing special. It is simply a collection of black poles or pipes. However, if you view them from the correct angle, they form the face of Nelson Mandela, a famous politician from South Africa. The sculpture can be found in South Africa, on the same spot where Mandela was arrested. This illusion is both striking and powerful, made up of a total of fifty unattached columns. 6. Tree, Line Zander Olsen’s photography project had a simple enough idea: wrap the trunks of trees to blend in with the horizon line behind them. Who knew the effect would be so incredible? By creating this relationship between the horizon and the trees directly in front of the camera, Olsen blends foreground with background and almost seems to make the sections disappear entirely. 5. Hawaiian Waves The story behind this larger-than-life illusion goes that while the artist, John Pugh, was working on this mural, a fire truck pulled up in order to rescue the children standing above the door. He had painted the children staring in awe at the wave, but had not yet painted the stairs you see now. Would you believe us if we told you that, in fact, the entire side of the building you see is perfectly flat? Even the two square windows to the right of the wave are painted on and if you look closely enough, there is a man standing in the top window, peering out at the surfer! 4. Cup of Coffee Manfred Stader specializes in a type of art called hyperrealism. This giant illusion is a perfect example, you can almost smell the freshly brewed coffee. Through an amazing talent, he was able to make it look as though the cup is made of real porcelain and there really could be a giant metal spool balancing on the saucer. In reality, the only real thing about this cup of coffee are the coffee grounds Stader is pouring across the foam. 3. Russian Caves As part of a series, Edgar Muller turned the streets of major cities into gorgeous lake-filled caverns. Covering over 100 square meters, this incredible illusion is another testament to Muller’s work. With this series of nature-inspired illusions, Mueller makes the viewer feel as though they can see right into the center of the Earth. 2. Flying Tree Many street artists make attempts to add to their environments, but Daniel Siering and Mario Shu are taking something away. These incredibly talented street artists have used foil and cans of plain, old spray paint to create this fascinating illusion. By painting the image of the cloudy sky on the midsection of the tree, which has been covered in tin foil, these artists give the illusion that this massive tree is floating in midair. 1. The Grass Globe This illusion, designed by François Abélanet, is so well-executed that even after some careful study, it is still difficult to figure out. Although it appears compact, the globe park is actually a massive installation, spanning over 300 feet in length. It took 90 people and five days to complete. It was designed using the idea of anamorphosis, which requires it to be viewed only from one, particular angle in order to look normal. From any other angle, this jaw-dropping illusion appears to be a segmented grass dog park.

Entertainment | Brad Dowdy | TEDxMuskegon
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Never the same beat twice, I have the entire drum kit and the entire band, inside my mind and there is no filter between my thoughts and the song I'm communicating. No other art form has satisfied Brad's musical desires like beat boxing has. Just by speaking, the music falls out of his mouth the same way he is feeling it at that very moment. No longer his hobby, beat box has become Brad's obsession. I believe that painting is the language of the soul and therefore the purest form of art. Artists who desire a spirtiual journey often choose the medium of painting because no other art form can match its ability to satisfy the create urge. Such artists are often called Pilgrim painters. An example of such an artist would be Vincent Van Gogh. IS there MORE to ART than THIS? Please subscribe and follow my spiritual progress aswell as my creative process in the production of new work for my future exhibition in Oslo.

Welcome to Sutter Vlogs
The goal of this channel is for me to share my creative pursuits and passions in order to entertain and inspire others. An easier way to say that is: I am here to share my passion for art and cars with all of you. I'm a creative person by nature, and vlogging through YouTube is an incredible creative outlet for me. Vlogging, in itself, is an art to me. It's a medium that delivers a multi-sensory experience to the audience and presents challenges like no other art form. I appreciate that. Being able to create this type of art -- and being able to share it with others in only the way that YouTube can offer -- provides me with a level of artistic satisfaction that I have never experienced in my life. If any of you already know me, you know that I have a huge affinity for cars. Cars are a great passion of mine, and I am here to share that through these vlogs. However, I am not going to be a traditional car reviewer or car spotter channel. I am here to combine my passion for art and cars with you through story telling (that’s what the creator in me wants to do). My stories won’t be about the the car itself or the art of making the film. My stories will involve people, because I truly believe that passions are nothing when you can’t share and enjoy them with others. What I’ve realized through this whole process of vlogging is that giving to and sharing with others is what makes me happy. I’m doing this because I love to do it. In the end, I hope that the stories I share with you will entertain you, possibly inspire you…and, maybe in some way, make you a little happier too.

Optical Glass Sculptures by fine art glass artist Jack Storms - The Glass Sculptor
This video will tell you all about the cold glass process I use to make my work. I hope you enjoy it and please share if you do! Website: http://www.jackstorms.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/stormsart Twitter: https://twitter.com/jackhstorms Instagram: http://instagram.com/stormsjack Both a tremendous athlete and a motivated student growing up in New Hampshire, it wasn’t until later in life that Jack discovered his passions in contemporary art and graduated at age 30 from Plymouth State University with a BA in Art focusing primarily on studio production. It was during his junior year there that he happened upon what would eventually become an entryway to his legacy, the studio of a glass artist that was close to his school where he was producing a phenomenally rare style of glass art work combining lead crystal and dichroic glass using a cold-glass process. The process itself which required several weeks to produce even one completed glass sculpture was incredibly intense and physically challenging, and the number of glass artisans working in this form of fine art could be counted on one hand. Working side by side with the artisan for over a year, Jack learned every component and facet of this incredibly challenging and rare art form and eventually was a strong enough sculptor to branch out on his own in 2004 and open Storm Works Studios. Both challenged and inspired by having been told that his vision was impossible, one of Jack’s first major accomplishments as an independent glass artist was to invent and design a cold-working lathe that offers him the ability to turn glass and sculpt shapes with curves and details like one would produce from a wooden medium. Early memories of studying his father’s craftsmanship as he worked for hours in his own studio with a wooden lathe provided him with the blueprint of his vision, and his intense drive and deeply embedded passion as a glass artist combined with the inspiration that came from the idea of pioneering new trails in the world of fine art motivated him toward this remarkable accomplishment. The intense cold-glass process which can take up to 24 weeks for each contemporary glass sculpture to come to life begins at the heart of the design, by creating a core of lead crystal which is cut, polished and laminated creating reflective mirrors. When wrapped in optical glass, the refraction of light as it passes through the glass creates rainbows of hypnotic color. The drawn out process of repetitive cutting, grinding and polishing requires intense passion, rigid self discipline, and more blood sweat and tears than any artisan could wrap their mind around. The results, are mind boggling works of contemporary glass art. Drawing inspiration from both his heart and his mind when conceiving his artistic designs, at the heart of each lead crystal sculpture by Jack Storms lays the theory of Fibonacci, a great mathematician that articulated the natural math seen in nature. Natural beauty is created, not manufactured. From the repetition florets of a flower to the scales of a pineapple’s skin, Fibonacci numbers are found in the pattern of growth of every living thing in nature. In spite of the intense natural talent born to Jack’s very talented hands, it was only a couple of years after the opening of Storm Works Studios that Jack found himself desperately seeking some amazing source of inspiration to keep him producing his incredibly beautiful and artistically brilliant glass sculptures. It was in true fairytale love story form that the serendipitous hand of fate brought him a beautiful princess that would rescue him from himself. True love brought Jack to his wife Vivian, and Vivian brought Jack through his stormy weather helping him find his inspiration again, and jumping in feet first to completely support Jack’s dreams and everything that meant to StormWorks Studio’s allowing Jack’s glass studio to flourish. A match made in heaven, Jack and Vivian married and brought their son Owen into the world. Jack’s complex heart and deeply rooted emotions make him an exemplary caretaker for his family, who are the driving force behind his creative inspiration. Only one muse inspired glass sculpture in Jack’s collection, the Viviovo sculpture beams with radiant light and colors from within having been modeled after the intense beauty and fire burning within his wife Vivian.

Which Martial Art is the Best? The Perfect Ratio for MMA
Taekwondo used in MMA (fightTIPS.com)►http://bit.ly/TKDinMMA It must be our competitive nature as fighters that we often argue which martial art is the best. Be it for MMA or street fighting, there are pros and cons of every single martial art. No one will disagree that boxing is great for footwork, head movement and punch combos. However it teaches you nothing about takedown defense or submissions. You get the idea I'm trying to make. I will say that some are more PRACTICAL than others for MMA and street fighting. Think about it: there is a reason you see Muay Thai and BJJ more than anything else. It's very well-rounded and balanced. Yet the guys that incorporate the unique stuff are the guys that become champions. Lyoto Machida (Karate), Anderson Silva (Taekwondo), etc. -- they bring something new to the table; a strike that their opponent isn't used to defending against, for instance. But remember: one of the most important factors of training under specific styles is that you are training properly and realistically. If you're training for a MMA rules fight, then practice your TKD or Kung Fu in MMA sparring. You can't expect to practice one form and think you can beat someone who has mastered 3. 1951: Heitor Villa-Lobos Speaks About Brazilian Music
Translation into English by Ana Claudia T. (https://www.facebook.com/tom.brazil.16) 0:02 Brazil has a geographical form of a heart. 0:16 Every Brazilian has this heart. 0::25 Music goes from one soul to another. 0:34 Birds speak through music: they have heart. 0:48 Everything that we feel in life is felt within our hearts. 1:02 The heart is life's metronome. 1:13 And there are many people who forget this. 1:21 Exactly what humanity needs most is a metronome. 1:31 If there was someone who could implant a metronome at the highest point on earth, perhaps we would be closer to peace 1:52 because people misunderstand each other. 2:02 Races and peoples live without a compass , because they don't remember the metronome they hold in their bodies: the heart. 2:17 It was fated by God, Who concede to Brazil, its geometrical form of a heart. 2:34 And there's a pulsating rhythm within our peoples, especially those from the northeastern Brazilian region: this sense of rhythm, heart, this unit of movement, this sensitive metronome. 3:01 My friends, this thought made me a musician. 3:10 This is the reason I became a deep and eternal slave of Brazil's life and things. 3:29 And, since I don't have any special gifts for speaking or writing, but I do have a gift for sound and rhythm, I transcribe in sounds and rhythms this crazy love for my nation. 4:01 This is my presentation . 4:04 This is, in principle, the justification of all I have been doing for Brazil until (my age) today. 4,20 I apologize to everyone for talking a little about my life in relation to Brazil 4:32 But it's necessary. That might be useful to the young people 4:41 in the case they follow the same track, the same destiny God has given to me. 4:52 Never in my life I sought for culture, erudition or knowledge or even wisdom in books, doctrines, theories or orthodox forms. 5:16 Never! Because my only book was Brazil. Not the map of Brazil in front of me, but this country's land, where I place my feet, where I feel, where I walk. 5:39 Each man I meet in Brazil represents an aesthetic form in my musical conception. 5:51 Each bird that sings to my ears is a theme that joins other themes, invisible and abstract themes that become sonorous physical form, form of music, art. 6:25 Art that is free as our nature. An independent art, just like the birds of Brazil. Sentimental art as are the men of our land. 6:43 My music is a reflex of sincerity. 6:51 In the beginning, I suffered, naturally, with those who were clinging to tradition. 7:06 Those who could not even find themselves; those who have never looked at the mirror of their consciousness, searching for the physiognomy of their own race. 7:23 Brazil spent a lot of time, my friends, many years imitating, copying others. 7:40 But, thank God, Brazil looked for or found by chance a mirror: the reflex of a huge nation's reality. They realized that could never be themselves unless doing it their way, without imitating anybody. 8:15 And this was done not only with ordinary things like fashion, but also in literature. Let's see the poets, for instance, the Parnassians or even modern poets. Some paintings, ancient and modern art works. Let's see the sculpture, which is so significant in Brazil like no other art. 8:55 Brazilians found themselves, they found their own way. Brazil finds its way. Unfortunately, our population is small if compared to the large extension of our land, but Brazilians find their way. And this is so in accordance with my life's penitence. 9:20 I'm ever more glad to be Brazilian. My justification is not a civic statement. No, I don't believe so. I am just a sincere artist . With the success, achievement, happiness and victory of my artistic career, I scream /speak out loud to our great people that the more one is Brazilian with his heart, his soul, vibration, the more one will contribute to be useful in the concept of the great nations and civilizations. 10:22 I am content, because I am close to end of my life, I feel perfectly that Brazil has found its path.It doesn't matter the political, social, and economical problems, Brazil finds itself. 10:47 I followed music. If my own example serves you, all my compatriots do the same, be free, remember your heart, remember that our heart is the metronome of the reality. 11:14 With it, you will have the economic reason of all things, the exact measure of our own life's reality. Remember that is the art that comes from heart to a heart, from a soul to another soul. 11:38 Also, music is the first art that leads to the other arts. I do not affirm it because I am a musician, no. Music has a positive power, let's say a biological power, it is therapy for the sick soul. Music is a comfort to the sufferer, a lullaby for the small children in the lap of their mothers, their fathers. (Continued below) "David Hertzberg"

Lionceau - No Other Place On Earth
Music video from Lionceau's single "No Other Place on Earth". Filmed on Lanzarote just using Smartphones as a camera device. In his summersong Lionceau sings of the beauty of Lanzarote, the freedom you immediately feel when you get there and the art of César Manrique. written, composed and arranged by LIONCEAU all Instruments and vocals by LIONCEAU except some synth arrangements by Marius André Camera by Alex Haze, directed and edited by LIONCEAU No Other Place on Earth by Lionceau Lanzrote was a wet dream where the great CM played God. Lit by a billion sunbeams on Atlantic promenade. There is a habitation carved in ancient stone. A fine art captivation where the sun ascends the throne. No other place on Earth made me feel calmer, made me feel fine. No other place on Earth made me feel calmer and love you more… In the air there is a shimmer like from primeval times. Art floods like a glimmer the sight of steel wind chimes. Handmade form is function. Fits into nature well. A magically sunken nightclub casts its spell. No other place on Earth made me feel calmer, made me feel fine. No other place on Earth made me feel calmer and love you more… Now the island’s wrapped in silence as it disappears from view. Can see it in a distance, in Atlantic ocean blue. No other place on Earth made me feel calmer, made me feel fine. No other place on Earth made me feel calmer and love you more…

RHYTHM The dialogue and building of cultural bridges consist of creating something together – the feeling of oneness. Music is the language of the emotions and dance has the power of bringing people from dividing societies together through power of rhythm. One example is the RHYTHM. Kandyan and Bharatham styles marvellously unified in a dynamic composition expressing the rhythm in harmony. Sri Lankan drums are a book of sounds. Percussion playing in Sri Lanka has developed in to a progressive art form, with varied musical disciplines. The drums of all ethnic groups have interwoven in to a brilliant rhythmic pattern, where the foot work of both Kandyan and Bharatham styles are set in unison. Why Aikido is Disliked by BJJ and MMA Practitioners? • Martial Arts Journey
Aikido often has a mixed or even negative reputation, especially between practitioners of MMA and BJJ. It took me years to realize why this is actually the case. If you want to know what is the real reason why Aikido is disliked by BJJ, MMA and other combat sports practitioners, check the video. SUBSCRIBE to the Martial Arts Journey channel for more aikido and martial arts videos like this one: ► http://bit.ly/1KPZpv0 For more Aikido, BJJ ( Brazilian Jiu Jitsu ), Self Defense, Boxing and other videos check our official page to find all the various YouTube series: www.rokasleo.com If you want to support this project and see more of these videos check my Patreon page: ► https://www.patreon.com/rokasleo Check the video which started it all: ► https://youtu.be/0KUXTC8g_pk Aikido often has a mixed or even negative reputation, especially between practitioners of MMA and BJJ. Having practiced Aikido for more than a decade, and for years being a loyal student, in the beginning I used to misunderstand the reason for this negativity and hatred. Only years after, I realized why this is truly happening, and that dramatically changed my approach and understanding of Aikido and it’s situation. Hi, my name is Rokas, and in this Martial Arts Journey video we’ll take a look at one of the reasons behind the negative reputation of Aikido between modern combat sports practitioners. As we practice martial arts and combat sports, we all have our stages. We often begin by having unconscious bias of loving our practice and believing that it is the best. If lucky, we then gradually move to a conscious bias, of understanding why we prefer our practice, instead of others, and eventually the next step of maturity is being able to recognize the flaws and reality behind our practice, and appreciating it for what it is, while respecting other arts as well. Unfortunately, not everyone is able to move along these stages, even after training for years. In my initial stage of practicing Aikido, I was told by my instructor that it is the purest martial art of them all, mainly because of it’s sophisticated and peaceful philosophy. While other martial arts were accepted in my first Dojo, there was a somewhat negative view on combat sports, as if they were meant for less “sophisticated” people, or to put it simply “meatheads” of martial arts. Looking up highly to my instructor, and having no experience in combat sports, I believed that to be true, and while I never put too much attention to this thought, part of me was proud to be “above” the “dirty and unsophisticated” practices and people. Knowing that I am “up to something better” than they are. As I moved on to the next Dojo - a similar type of mentality in regards to combat sports was felt, although not spoken as openly. Yet cross training in combat sports was not suggested what so ever, since “it would ruin the understanding of the pure Aikido philosophy.”, thus I kept avoiding any combat sports practices, continuing to believe that Aikido is the best, that it is all that is necessary and if I would practice other, more combat oriented practices - my practice would suffer because of it. Only when I was already running my Dojo and I met a BJJ practitioner who convinced me to try rolling with him, and eventually to train together, after many talks I started to see how vast and amazing the combat sports world is. Talking to him I saw nothing but respect and curiosity. When I met his gym buddies, I had pretty much the same impression, and I was left wondering: so where are all these combat sports meatheads that I was told about? When considering then, why Aikido was disliked by combat sports practitioners, I thought - maybe it’s because Aikido is not really as practical in the realm of fighting as their practices. Eventually, another big exposure happened. Tired of some Aikido people believing that “Aikido is too deadly for MMA”, or that “Aikido people do not go to MMA not because it wouldn’t work, but because it’s philosophy of “not fighting” prevents them from it”, I went to prove that Aikido actually doesn’t work, by filming the “Aikido vs MMA” video. Filming it, was my first great direct exposure to mixed martial arts. I was ready to get a black eye and lose some teeth, expecting the MMA guy to be this ruthless, arrogant, disrespectful and uncaring person, as I was told about “people like him”, who would beat the hell out of me given the opportunity to prove that Aikido doesn’t work. To my great surprise, this MMA guy was one of the nicest people I’ve met, and he took great care of me during my first sparring experience!

Asha ~ Life is only for love
Asha (Asher Quinn) sings ‘Life is only for love’ from his album “High Planes Music.” Track download & CD available here ~ http://asherquinn.co.uk/highplanesmusic.htm This is an acoustic version of a song I originally recorded on an album called “Music for Love,” and I finally found a good atmosphere and feeling to film for it in the countryside around Hidegkút, up in the Buda hills heading out of Budapest, where I have been living. There is a quote attributable to St.Paul the Apostle that I adore… “Life is only for love, and time is only that we may find God.” Yes… that makes complete sense to me. The meaning and purpose of life is to become God-conscious, and time is a blessing and a mercy bestowed upon us that allows this to happen. Time is like the air that we breathe… given freely in grace as a great blessing, so that we get a good crack at solving the mystery of our mortality, and at finding the Grail of the Eternal Life in our spiritualised heart. All other meaning is illusory and superfluous, honestly, it is! Trust me! Anything other than this is simply intellectual duelling over dualism. Humankind is spiritual before it is physical, and we are not here for the glory of man alone, or the function of the animal, to procreate; humankind is here for the deeply honourable, sacred task of remembering its divinity, and in so doing to transform its spiritual instinct into spiritual consciousness. There are many gags about the meaning of life, as if it’s an unfathomable mystery inducing a kind of surreal humour which relies upon the assumption that we all get the joke… that we can jokingly guess at the meaning of life in a nutty kind of way because we can never know it; but the real joke is contained the sweetness and innocence of the assumption itself, which assumes that the meaning of life is something we can’t know. Nothing could be further from the truth. Actually, as spiritual beings, we become physical beings through music… we are beings created by the musical aspect of God!! We are made of tone, melody and rhythm… we are made of dance and song. Our limbic system is a direct physical manifestation of the heavenly dance of creation, and our breath is the song of the universe. The greatest living proof of God is the effect music has on the soul. We are an octave in harmony with higher octaves… with overtones. The first notes of the octave are the lower sensibilities… the earth man tones, the ‘manas’ of the human being, and the higher notes are the divine qualities… the ‘hu’ of the human being. We complete one octave and then climb the scale. Through music we can become aware of our God-self, and once awareness is experienced the meaning of life becomes indisputably obvious; a joy; a home-coming; a living, breathing reality; a remembrance; a song; a work of art; a state of grace; a blessing; a completion and a mercy. Through music we can become aware of the choreography of our existence and the song of our soul. No other art-form can give this direct experience. Music helps humankind see the unseen world. This song ‘Life is only for love’ is a hymn of gratitude for that miracle… that the song can lead a human being to the remembrance of divine love.
