24 Animals That Are Often Confused for One Another
How to Tell Similar-looking Animals from One Another. There are approximately 7.7 million species of animals on our planet. With such an abundance of life forms, it's not surprising that people tend to confuse certain animals. We’ll teach you how to tell even the most similar looking animals from one another. You’ll never make the old mistakes again and will be able to easily find the difference between crocodiles and alligators, llamas and alpacas, leopards and jaguars and many other creatures. TIMESTAMPS Rabbits vs hares 0:46 Moths vs butterflies 1:35 Sheep vs goats 2:21 Hedgehogs vs porcupines 3:15 Llamas vs alpacas 4:11 Crocodiles vs alligators 4:56 Sea lions vs seals 5:50 Wasps vs bees 6:37 Frogs vs toads 7:15 Dolphins vs porpoises 7:54 Turtles vs tortoises 8:29 Leopards vs jaguars 9:04 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY -Hares are typically faster and larger than rabbits. Their ears and strong hind legs are also longer, and they have bigger feet. -Butterflies have club-shaped antennae that look like a thin shaft with a bulbous tip. As for moths, their antennae are either serrated or feathery. -You will notice that sheep hold them down whereas the tails of goats proudly stay up. -Like all rodents, porcupines have big front teeth. As for hedgehogs, their snouts and teeth are pointy, and they are omnivores, feasting on insects, frogs, plants, and fruit. -Mature llamas are much larger than alpacas, whose weight typically varies between 100 lb and 170 lb. As for an adult llama, it can weigh as much as 400 lb. -Crocodiles are the lucky owners of special glands, which they use to excrete excess salt. As for alligators, their salt glands aren't so well developed. That's why they mostly live in fresh water. -Sea lions' flippers are larger and covered with skin. Seals have a thinly webbed flipper, and each small toe has a claw. Seals prefer solitude, and sea lions love gathering in big companies and hanging out with friends. -Bees are hairy: they need this feature to dip into flowers to collect pollen. Also, their rear legs are flat. Bees look more stocky. -The skin of most frogs is smooth, while a toad’s skin is thick and bumpy. Frogs' legs are long and slender, and their eyes are big and bulging. -Most dolphins have pointy faces, curved dorsal fins, and slender bodies. Porpoises have triangular back fins, robust bodies, and rounded faces. -Turtles have webbed feet as they live mostly in water, and this makes swimming easier. Also, their shells are lighter and flatter. -You can find jaguars in Central and South America and sometimes in the southwest of the USA. As for leopards, they dwell in Asia and Africa. Jaguars have smaller spots. Leopards are more slender and a bit smaller than jaguars. What Assumptions Do Kids Make About Each Other? | Reverse Assumptions
It’s certainly easier to make assumptions about people than it is to spend time getting to know someone. We wanted to put assumptions to the test to see what we're missing out on because we're so busy assuming we already "know" a person. Join us as we discover why you should never judge a book by it’s cover in our series, Reverse Assumptions. We are all conditioned with certain biases. In this experiment, we challenged these biases by asking people to make assumptions about their partner's appearance without ever actually seeing their partner. When they flipped around to finally face each other, they were shocked by how wrong they were. Now it's YOUR turn. What do people assume about you? Did you know that pigeons have better vision than us? Have you ever wondered how animals and birds actually see the world? What do fish see when they look at us? This video will explain all these to the smallest details! TIMESTAMPS Snakes 0:20 Cows 0:35 Horses 0:53 Fish 1:12 Birds 1:32 Eagle 1:50 Pigeon 2:01 Sparrow 2:10 Insects 2:17 Bee 2:32 Rats 2:41 Cats 2:53 Dogs 3:13 Frogs 3:25 Chameleons 3:43 SUMMARY - Vision of snakes differs the most from ours – they sense thermal signatures. Due to the infrared-sensitive receptors on their snouts, some snakes can ‘see’ the radiated heat of warm-blooded mammals. - Cows don’t see colors as clearly as human. You’ve probably never heard about this: they see the world in a red-orange color scheme. - There is a blind spot where horses can’t see at all – directly in front of their faces. This is because of their eye location. Also, horses don't see as many colors as we do. - Fish eyes have ultraviolet receptors and a more spherical lens than we have. They see the world in green, red, and blue colors, but can’t see red and blue. Deep sea fish can easily see in the dark. - As for birds, they have something similar in their vision – unlike humans, birds can see ultraviolet light. Thanks to the structure of their eyes, they can focus on certain places. - Flies have thousands of individual visual receptors that collectively create a broad field of vision. Also, they see the world in slow-motion and can see ultraviolet light. Another insect, a bee, has an unusual vision as well. It's a surprising fact but bees can't distinguish red color at all! For them the color red appears to be dark blue. - Rat vision is quite blurry, and they can’t see red. They also see the world in slow-motion. Each eye moves independently so they can have two images of the world. - Cats don't distinguish red and green shades, and their world is made up of brown, yellow, and blue shades. The cat's field of view is broader than ours so they can see more on the sides. -Dogs can’t see red and orange colors, but they clearly see blue and violet, as well as ultraviolet light. Moreover, they are able to differentiate between 40 shades of gray! - Frogs can notice only moving objects. They can literally starve to death in the abundance of food if the food does not move! Frogs can also focus only on certain things, so they don’t concentrate on what they don’t need (for example, shadows). - The eyes of chameleons can rotate in different directions independently, so they have a 360-degree field of vision. They see two images at the same time: one in the front and the other one behind. How streets, roads, and avenues are different
There's a method to the madness of classifying roads. Follow Phil Edwards and Vox Almanac on Facebook for more: https://www.facebook.com/philedwardsinc1/ A street is a road but a road isn't always a street. A road can also be an avenue or a boulevard—it's the general term for anything that connects two points. From there, the names of roads can be shaped by their environment and/or the form of the road. A drive is a long winding road that can be shaped by mountains or a lake. Place is a narrow road with no throughway. And just as there is no rule book to building a city, these roads and other don't always correspond with their described classifications. And while some doctors work in hospitals, others, like a real team of superheroes, rush to help others through the streets of big cities. But, unfortunately, paramedics have to fight not only the diseases of their patients, but also with road traffic. In today's video, we have several examples of how drivers in different countries react to an ambulance. Of course, each of these videos may well be exceptions to the rule, but you should still see them.

How the World Map Looks Wildly Different Than You Think
All of us have seen a world map at some point in our lives before, but it is very difficult to imagine how certain countries and parts of the world compare to each other in size that are far apart. In this video, I explore why the world looks very different than how it is portrayed in the Mercator Projection map. I then go on to explore how certain countries are unexpectedly larger or smaller than what they appear to be, and how some places looks wildly different than our perceptions. PS; Don't totally hate on the Mercator Projection, it's actually a really useful map for navigation and on keeping the correct shape of countries while sacrificing the size that we can all laugh about! How can people from different cultures get along with each other? | Richard Evanoff | TEDxRoppongi
Globalisation is bringing people from different cultures together as never before. While cultural diversity is often regarded as a good thing, in some cases cultural differences in beliefs, values, and customs can lead to conflict. For example, child marriage might be regarded as an acceptable custom in some cultures, but as a violation of human rights in others. The talk will introduce the audience to intercultural ethics, which considers how people from different cultures might be able to successfully interact with each other despite having different views about ethics. Richard Evanoff was a speaker at the UN Conference on Dialogue Among Civilisations in 2001 and an invited participant at the Regional Workshop on Ethical Approaches to Climate Change Policies organised by UNESCO in 2010. Evanoff is the author of numerous articles on both environmental ethics and intercultural ethics, and of several books, including Bioregionalism and Global Ethics: A Transactional Approach to Achieving Ecological Sustainability, Social Justice, and Human Well-being (Routledge 2011) and the textbook Thinking About the Environment (Macmillan 1996). He is a member of the 5 International Academy for Intercultural Relations, the International Society for Environmental Ethics, and the International Society for Universal Dialogue. He has also been active in various grassroots organizations and NGOs concerned with social and environmental issues, including the Planet Drum Foundation and Friends of the Earth Japan. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx

Each vs Every - Usage and differences - English Grammar lesson Take the quiz : http://www.learnex.in/difference-between-each-and-every-english-grammar-lesson In this English Grammar lesson, you will learn the usage of each and every. They are expressions in the singular and are always followed by a singular verb. Website : http://www.letstalkpodcast.com Facebook page : http://www.facebook.com/letstalkpodcast Using ‘Each’: We use "each" in front of the singular form of a count noun to emphasize individuality. (Individual’s performance) • Each of the children received gifts. • He met each of the team members personally. • There are two boys. (always use each for two things) Using ‘Every’: Every is used when referring to all the members of a group of three or more (it is more usual for a large number). Examples: • I have read every book in the library. (as there are a lot of books in the library) • Every house in the town is painted white. How are term plans of different companies diff from each other?
Asks CNBC Awaaz viewer Mitul Patel on your money show from Harsh Roongta CEO Apnapaisa. Harsh Roongta replies: Among the above policy Aegon Religare comes with Terminal illness benefits leading to death , it means policy pays 25% of basic sum assured on diagnosis of terminal illness i.e. serious critical illness i.e. nothing but an early payment of the death claim. Terminal illness benefit comes with condition, therefore before buying the policy please read the policy wording carefully for list of exclusion. This is addition benefit in term policy which should not be the criteria to buy the term plan. There is no major diffiernce amongst the term plans offered by the other companies except premium payable. Aegon religare and Bharti Axa are the cheapest term plans available in the market. It is always advisable to take term plan to cover your life when any family member is financial depend on you. As in your case your family is financially depending on you therefore you should buy term plan. By thumb rule you should buy life cover equal to 25 times of your annual income, which is come to 1 crore if your annual gross income is 4 lakhs. This is subject to financial undertaking by individual company. LIC don't have online term plans and therefore advisable to buy it from any company offering online term plan. It is recommend to take policy cover till your earning age. In your case term 35 year is recommended. While buying the policy it is always recommend to disclose all the health and existing insurance policy facts to insurance company. All the genuine claim gets settled by all the insurance company, therefore claim settlement ratio is not so relevant if you disclose all the facts to insurance company. However among the companies that offer online term plans HDFC, ICICI, SBI, Kotak and Aviva have more than 90% death claim payment. Age 25, Term 35 and Sum Assured Rs.1 Crore. Policy Name Premium for 1 Cr Bharti AXA e-Protect 7191 Aviva I-Life 7223 AEGON Religare i-Term 7191

Ian McEwan Interview: How We Read Each Other
We are all spies trying to read each others secrets. Meet the superb British writer Ian McEwan in this conversation about his novel Sweet Tooth (2012) -- a novel about literature as well as about a love affair between two very different people. "The novel is a perfect engine for analyzing how we read each other, read situations, and take charge of the narrative." Begins McEwan, and explains how the CIA secretly funded lots of left wing art and culture, pondering what questions could be raised in this context. He also talks about power balances and how "all people are spies." McEwan talks about his youth in the 1970s, and how his early ideas on writing are different to what he now thinks. All artists are standing on the shoulders of giants, he says, but adds jokingly that in his case he had giants standing on his shoulders, and it was blocking his view. McEwan also comments on how work has vanished from novels, because novelists no longer have other jobs on the side. An author such as John le Carré wrote brilliantly about his time, about office life and the anxiety of the post war years. About the two main characters of the book, McEwan explains that there are different kinds of knowing, and that people cannot help what they do or do not understand. Sweet Tooth is a novel which tries to unify the taste for a story, and the taste for literary tricks, he says. This happens through he meeting of these two very different people, and their love story. Ian McEwan (b. 1948) is an award winning English novelist and screenwriter. McEwan has been nominated for the Man Booker prize six times to date, winning the prize for 'Amsterdam' in 1998. In 2001, he published 'Atonement', which was made into an Oscar-winning film. This was followed by 'Saturday' (2005), 'On Chesil Beach' (2007), 'Solar' (2010), and 'Sweet Tooth' (2012). He was awarded the Jerusalem Prize in 2011. Ian McEwan was interviewed by Synne Rifbjerg at Louisiana Literature festival at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, 2013 Filmed by Klaus Elmer & Mathias Nyholm Editing by Kamilla Bruus Produced by Christian Lund Copyright: Louisiana Channel, Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, 2014.
